The Regional Council of Calabria has approved the provision which kicks off the process for the consultative referendum on the modification of the territorial borders between the Municipalities of Zambrone and Zaccanopoli, in the Vibonese area.
Referendum limited to residents of the district
The consultation will concern exclusively the residents of the Cancino district, an area for which the transition from the territory of Zaccanopoli to that of Zambrone has been proposed. The choice to limit voting only to the inhabitants of the area concerned is provided for by regional legislation in cases where the territory has distinctive characteristics compared to the rest of the municipality to which it belongs.
The process
After the green light from the Regional Council, the President of the Calabria Region will formally call the consultative referendum, calling the voters of the interested area to express their opinion on the proposal to change the municipal boundaries.
