The municipal administration of Botricello has proclaimed citizen mourning for the funeral of Francesco Cosco, the 52-year-old killed by his son last November 27.

The ordinance signed by the mayor Saverio Simone Puccio highlights “that the bloody incident has profoundly affected the entire Botricellese community, taking into account that the crime occurred in a family environment”.

The city’s mourning takes into account the “reaction of the people of Botricelle who experienced the tragedy with great emotion and sadness, considering that Mr. Cosco Francesco and the entire family are well known to the community to which they belong. The victim herself, together with the whole family, has always shown a great attachment to the young Alessio, following him step by step in his hardships, with loving care and continuous attention, guiding him on a path of suffering and in the hope of a rebirth”.

The attitude of the Cosco family, highlighted the municipal administration, demonstrated “a commendable experience of life and family love” and “a condition of hardship was faced with absolute dignity and awareness”.

For these reasons, Mayor Puccio proclaimed city mourning for Friday 1 December, the day of the funeral celebration, ordering the display of flags at half-mast on all public offices in the area, inviting the municipal offices and educational institutions present in the area to carry out a minute of reflection at 12.00.

Commercial activities, on an optional basis, will be able to decide whether to keep their businesses closed during the time of the funeral and, in particular, from 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm on Friday 1 December 2023.
