In Briatico Marina the only event “Nomura Eging Day Calabria 2025”. Event with a strong call: in fact, Sunday the gathering has called the fishing enthusiasts of the whole region. And not only that, because the competition saw the participation of fishermen from outside Calabria, being able to count five participants from Sicily, two from Rome and a woman from Lombardy.
In this case, the event saw a total of 120 participants in the race, including 14 boys aged between 6 and 16 and three women, all united by the passion for fishing for cephalopods (squid and cuttlefish), using the technique of ‘Egi, a specific fishing practice that uses special baits. An engaging atmosphere was created on the BriaTicese promenade: it was filled with eging enthusiasts and their companions; as well as curious, including visitors, who have delighted themselves to admire their performances. The prizes were awarded to the first 15 classified, and on the podium Sandro Melluso di Briatico triumphed, 1⁰ ranked thanks to the capture of a cuttlefish, which won an KGN 1000 Evolution electric reel. At 2⁰ Posto ranked Stefano Malogni, also from Briatico, who captured a squid and received a 48l Cooler for Vivo with integrated oxygenators. And finally, in 3rd place, Paolo Polimeni from Reggio Calabria was placed with an octopus, who withdrew a Belly Boat XXL Heavy Duty.
The gathering, with the significant name “Nomura Eging Day Briatico”, was organized by Mimmo Betruce Biatico Fishing, the Lineaeffe/Nomura company, and the Boat Company Srl, with the participation of Pietro Romeo of the Nomura Pro-Team (Sportfishingcalabria. com). In addition, they collaborated: the Associazione Merchants and Free Professionals of Briatico and the Local Proloco, thus helping to make the meeting a success. In short, the fishing competition united enthusiasts of all ages, also creating an important opportunity for the exchange of experiences, between fishermen. Certainly, the “nomura eging day” proved to be a successful event, thus highlighting the importance of sport fishing, as well as its potential to attract visitors and tourists in the splendid setting of the Briatico Navy.
