New political clash on the Strait Bridge after the declarations of the general secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini, who spoke at the initiative “One and indivisible: Italy starts again from the South”.
“We reiterate our opposition to the Strait Bridge, which demonstrates not only a wrong idea of the relationship with the environment but also a way to continue chasing away money and perhaps, as Don Ciotti effectively said, the only thing that is capable of uniting are the mafias if they cross it,” Landini declared during his speech.
The League’s response
The vice president of the League’s senators at Palazzo Madama, Nino Germanà, responded to the union leader’s words.
“The title of the CGIL initiative would seem perfect to talk about the Bridge over the Strait of Messina, which unites and relaunches the South – states Germanà -. Instead Landini, inexplicably against a work that will give work to many of his members, thinks that it only serves to unite the mafias of Sicily and Calabria”.
According to the League representative, it is “a vulgar statement which offends Sicilians and Calabrians and threatens the future of the young people of our land, who instead want to work and reject organized crime”.

Germanà also claims that the fight against organized crime also involves “the modernization of infrastructure and the development of the productive fabric”.
The Northern League senator then adds that Landini would have “understood that he had exaggerated”, believing “it is useless to attribute this statement to Don Ciotti, who is a giant who deserves all the credit for the work done”.
