Calabria fights and resists. But it ages, wears out quickly and disappears one piece at a time. However, it is no longer just a question of impoverishment at the registry office between empty cradles, uncompetitive public services, youth emigration and aging residents. The demographic storm risks bringing the curtain down on entire portions of the traditional production sectors which are the engine of the regional economy. Istat continues to certify an unforgettable 2025 for the particularly dynamic labor market in the South and in Calabria. Moreover, 2024 ended with an index of 48.5%, an increase compared to the past. But numbers are numbers and they do not explain the underlying dynamics in a region that finds itself with pockets of employed people over 50 who continue to expand within a scenario that rapidly fades into the age group of the youngest.
