Domenico Morace, one of the most authoritative sports journalists in Calabria and on the national scene, has died at the age of 82. He passed away in a clinic in the Piana di Gioia Tauro, where he had been hospitalized for a few days.

Born in Reggio Calabria, Morace had started in local newspapers before arriving at Corriere dello Sportwho chose him as correspondent from the city of the Strait. Transferred to Rome, he joined the central editorial team following Capitoline football, and then moved to the Milan office, dealing mainly with the international transfer market. Returning to the capital, he quickly rose through the ranks until he became deputy editor and then director of the newspaper. The title “Eroici” was famous, in the aftermath of the ’82 World Cup, which became a symbol of that publishing season.

After completing his experience at the Corriere, he led the Guerin Sport and subsequently the Tomorrow of Calabriacontributing to the training of many young reporters. In the following years he collaborated with Rai as a commentator and analyst. Despite having worked between Rome and Milan, he always maintained a strong link with Calabria, participating in public initiatives and receiving honorary positions from trade associations.
