The Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri of Messina, Colonel Lucio ARCIDIACONO, welcomed the officers who in recent days have taken on tasks aimed at implementing strategies for preventing and combating the most important criminal phenomena, with particular reference to those attributable to organized crime.

It’s about the Major Matteo Defilippisdel Lieutenant Andrea Costa and of Lieutenant Giuseppe Garozzowho have just taken office as Commanders, respectively, of the Investigation Unit and of the 2nd Section employee, as well as of the Information Unit, taking over from Lieutenant Colonels Giuseppe SEPE and Domenico SPADARO, as well as Captains Guglielmo ALVERONE and Mario BEZZECCHERI, assigned to the Investigation Unit of the Provincial Command of Bari and the Companies of Ragusa, Menaggio (CO) and Tirano (SO).

Major Matteo Defilippis – 38 years old, native of Cerignola (FG) and raised in Abruzzo – comes from the regular courses of the Military Academy of Modena and arrived from the Piedmontese capital, where he was Commander of the Turin Mirafiori Company. Before that he had already gained numerous and diversified operational experiences between Calabria and Sicily, in the roles of Commander of the Operational Units of Rossano (CS) and Palermo San Lorenzo, as well as of the Company of Melito di Porto Salvo (RC), to which was added another period also spent in the ranks of the Special Operations Group, at the Anti-Crime Department of Rome.

Also arriving at the Messina Investigation Unit – as Commander of the 2nd Section – was Lieutenant Andrea COSTA, 51 years old, originally from Benevento and coming from the Peschiera del Garda (VR) Company, where he was Commander of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit. For him too, it is a return to Sicily, as he already has over twenty years of service experience under his belt, gained – within the role of Inspectors – at the Palermo Resuttana Colli Station (PA), the Operational Section of Bagheria (PA) and the Investigative Unit of Palermo, as well as as Commander of the Casteldaccia Station (PA) and of the Radiomobile Unit of the Bagheria Company (PA).

Finally, another change also concerned the Information Unit of the Peloritano Provincial Command, which is heavily involved in information collection and analysis activities aimed at monitoring the phenomena that affect the safety of the province, also for the purpose of taking on the numerous administrative measures falling under the responsibility of the Prefecture above all.

Lieutenant Giuseppe GAROZZO arrived in Messina – 56 years old, originally from Milo (CT) – who had already been Commander of the Operational Section of the Company of Ivrea (TO) and of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Company of Tropea (VV). Furthermore, he also boasts solid previous service experience, gained in more than 30 years as an Inspector between Calabria and Sicily, where he worked, among other things, as Commander of the Zagarise (CZ) and Tremestieri Etneo (CT) stations.

Colonel Arcidiacono, in underlining the important moment of renewal for the operational activities of the Army in the province, expressed heartfelt thanks to the Officers who have rendered their service in favor of the Peloritana citizens, also formulating a sincere wish for good work to the newly arrived Commanders, who are preparing to face the new challenges in which the Army is called upon to provide its contribution.
