In Friday’s session the city council, on the proposal of the councilor for the environment Irene Colosimo, approved the transitional rules for the management and protection of the regional nature reserve of the Dune di Giovino. A necessary step to entrust the management of the area to the Municipality while waiting for all the definitive procedures and regulations to be prepared and approved. However, the manifest intentions of protecting such a fascinating, delicate and precious area clash with the reality of the decisions taken by the Fiorita Council itself. In fact, less than a couple of weeks after the recognition of the protected area of ​​the Dunes of Giovino, the municipal administration had granted authorization (and patronage) to the organization of the first stage of the national Marecross championship to be held right on the Giovino beach.
