There is not only Alberto Aquilani among the candidates for the Catanzaro bench. The coach still under contract with Pisa was the first name explored after the break with Vivarini and remains a strong idea for president Noto's club. The owner himself really likes him because he is young, ambitious, looking for a new project and has no problem working with the unders; he is also a coach who would be appreciated by the locker room, starting with captain Iemmello, because after two years with a certain type of football, guaranteeing technical continuity would provide greater guarantees than starting from scratch. Aquilani, however, no longer seems to have the advantage that he had in recent days over the alternatives that the club still has in its hands.
A similar identikit is that of Massimo Brambilla, who will leave Juventus Next Generation after two excellent seasons. In his case, the connection with the new Giallorossi general director Paolo Morganti, who was Brambilla's Football department organization manager, is immediate. But it's not just about this: just like Aquilani, Brambilla also began to be talked about in via Gioacchino da Fiore at least a few months ago. In short, it's not a last minute idea.
Fifty-one years old, former midfielder for Parma, Turin and Bologna among others, Brambilla began his career as a coach (in 2015) in an excellent youth sector, that of Atalanta: with the Nerazzurri he led the Under 17 and Primavera teams, in 2022 he took the next step, in a pro championship, with Juve Next Gen. Given the path taken so far, he seems perfect to work with a young team (Catanzaro will be rejuvenated) and, despite not having coached in Serie B yet, it has the quality seal of two top clubs such as the Dea and the Vecchia Signora. It wouldn't be a leap into the void, on the contrary… And he himself wants to compete with a higher category.
Noto is also thinking about a third man who shouldn't be Moreno Longo (from a technical point of view, a completely different profile compared to Aquilani and Brambilla): the survey launched against him would not have been followed up because the former Como player seems very close to Bari, so in the end “mister top secret so far, a bit like what happened with DG Morganti, a name that remained confidential until a few hours before the announcement.
On the coach affair However, it is essential that a solution is found with Vivarini among the usual hypotheses: resignation (after all, it is the Abruzzo native who does not want to continue with the Giallorossi), dismissal or compensation from any club that would want him on the bench (for the moment, however, nothing has concretely moved, not even the Frosinone).
The other open question concerns the sporting director: Davide Vaira maintains the advantage over Ciro Polito after the meeting with President Noto last Thursday, but Giancarlo Romairone is also in the running. Now the owners only have to make the final choice to start again after Magalini forced his farewell. He will do it by early next week, probably no later than Tuesday.
