Work on the newly built nursery in Viale Crotone in the Lido district has been completed, financed for 1.4 million euros through the PNRR as part of the Next Generation EU programme. The new building is located in an area characterized by the presence of residential and commercial settlements and was designed to be used as a nursery and nursery capable of accommodating up to 80 children aged between three and thirty-six months.
The mayor of Catanzaro, Nicola Fiorita, presided over the presentation of the structure to the press today, accompanied by the manager Giovanni Laganà and the Rup Fabio Gualtieri, as well as by representatives of the company. “When I took office, Catanzaro only had one public kindergarten and we were in last place in Europe”, said the mayor. “When I end my mandate, the city will have four. Today we note that the construction of the first public kindergarten in the history of the seaside district has been completed, a work awaited for many years, a beautiful, modern, large kindergarten, more than a thousand square meters, which could accommodate up to 80 children. We will furnish it and we will get to work to have it started as early as next autumn, perhaps even partially. The administration will continue to complete the construction of the other two kindergartens with the aim of bringing Catanzaro at the forefront in Italy, recovering a historical gap and demonstrating unprecedented attention towards families, towards children and towards the common good”.
The spaces were divided into functional units, organized according to specific pedagogical projects, and designed to stimulate children’s creativity and sociability. The environments, aimed at diversified activities, present characteristics of flexibility, functionality, comfort and well-being. The structure is easily accessible, responds to the need to contain energy consumption and guarantees the overcoming of architectural barriers in accordance with current legislation, also taking into account sensory and cognitive factors. Furthermore, a direct relationship with the external spaces foreseen in the minimum size of 10 m2 for each child was guaranteed.
