First away success of the season for Catanzaro, who beat Palermo with a solid and vigorous match and overtook the Rossoneri and reached the playoff zone. Blitz away from the “Ceravolo” who had been missing since last April (1-3 with Modena), gold in terms of standings and morale. Caserta follows up on the sensations of the day before, dropping Cassandra back into the defensive trio in place of the suspended Brighenti. Among the rosanero, Brunori starts from the bench, a team lined up with a 4-4-2 with offensive wingers.
Catanzaro starts off strong and passes immediately, at the end of an infinite action: Compagnon shoots from the right and engages Desplanches, the action continues with a shot from Pompetti rejected by Nikolau, the ball goes to Cassandro who puts it in the middle and finds Biasci to score in the 3rd minute. Third goal in a row for the attacker against Palermo, scoring in both matches last season.
Fiery climate at the “Barbera” with the fans protesting against sporting director De Sanctis and Mr. Dionisi with chants and banners. Climate that also changes on a meteorological level, with the sun giving way to a very violent storm, with hail, around the tenth minute. Palermo tries to react and in the 32nd minute Di Francesco Pennella, Pigliacelli takes refuge in a corner following a header from Le Douaron. On the resulting corner kicked by Ranocchia Here’s the Rosanero’s equalizer, thanks to Nikolau’s header in the area off Le Douaron’s side.
In the second half the rosanero pushed and created numerous opportunities but then Catanzaro compacted and hit the Sicilians to the heart: Iemmello for Compagnon, rebounded the ball, Pontisso blocked it and with his left foot found a masterpiece that made it 1-2 in the 37th minute. Palermo continues to insist but it ends like this: Giallorossi party, Palermo amidst the boos.
