US Catanzaro secures the defender’s sporting services on a temporary basis from Como Thomas Cassandro. The right back born in 2000, who grew up in the Bologna youth team, played his first professional championship with Novara, before moving to Serie B with Cittadella, a team with which he played for two entire seasons before moving, in the winter transfer market of the third, to Lecce in Serie A. Last season, with 20 appearances, he was among the protagonists of the Lariani’s promotion to the top flight.
“Last year was a great year on a personal and collective level – Cassandro says, speaking to the club’s microphones – in which Catanzaro gave us a hard time. At Ceravolo we found an incredible atmosphere, with all the fans pushing the team, which I hope to experience again this year. Also last Sunday, in the match against Sassuolo, I saw on TV a packed stadium that supported their players and this helps to achieve goals. Everyone spoke well of this club, I’m happy to be here and start this new adventure. I will try to give my best to get great satisfaction together with my teammates and the fans”. Speaking about his characteristics, Cassandro describes himself as «a very capable player, who works on insertions without the ball and one-twos. From a character point of view, I think I have a great spirit of sacrifice and dedication to work, I hope to make myself available to the team immediately”. Cassandro has also distinguished himself for his commitment off the pitch: he first obtained a degree in Sports Sciences, majoring in football, then last February a master’s degree in Sports Management: “Studying is something that helps me outside of football, it helps me improve and keep my mind trained and engaged on various objectives, keeping away the distractions that free time can lead to”.
Cassandro arrives in Giallorossi on loan with the right to buy. If he exercises the right, he will be tied to the club until 2027.
