“A rigged convention”, the consequence of a “coup against Joe Biden”: this is Donald Trump’s latest attack on his rival Kamala Harris on the eve of the event that will crown the Democratic nominee. In his rally last night in Pennsylvania, the tycoon once again contested Harris’ legitimacy for having entered the race without a vote from the base, after Biden had overwhelmingly won the primaries. An argument he could use to contest the outcome of the election, if he were to lose.
Meanwhile, a new poll in favor of Kamala Harris arrives: according to a Washington Post-Abc News-Ipsos survey. On the national vote, the Democratic presidential candidate leads 49% to 45% in a duel only against Donald Trump, while including third-party candidates she is at 47% against the tycoon’s 44%, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 5%. At the beginning of July, Trump was at 43%, Biden at 42% and Kennedy at 9%. Given the margin of error in this poll, which only checks national support, Harris’ advantage among registered voters is not considered statistically significant.
