On Tuesday afternoon, the town’s Coast Guard carried out a timely rescue of a swimmer off the coast of local maritime waters, after receiving a specific report from a private citizen sent to the Operations Room of the Maritime District Office. The latter had, in fact, seen a person screaming and struggling at more than 150 meters from the shoredragged by the current due to the adverse weather conditions that have affected the Alto Tirreno Cosenza since Monday. The unfortunate man was therefore rescued by the men and women of the Cetraro Maritime District Office, led by Lieutenant Giuseppe Castronovo, who, upon receiving the distress call, immediately activated the rescue machine, with the departure of the Sar Cp 2097 patrol boat, whose crew first located and then rescued the now exhausted swimmer, securing him on board the same patrol boat and subsequently disembarking him in the port of the town, in good health. The Cetraro Maritime District Office, on this occasion, recommends that sea users pay greater attention to weather and sea conditions, avoiding potentially dangerous situations.
