In recent days the Carabinieri of the Tenenza of Isola di Capo Rizzuto, supported by the specialized personnel of the Vibo Valentia Dog Unit, carried out a targeted judicial police service aimed at combating illicit trafficking of narcotic substances.
The operation led to the arrest in flagrante delicto of MFM, an 18-year-old Romanian resident in the area and already known to the police, held responsible for detention for the purpose of dealing drugs. The search carried out at the suspect’s home, thanks also to the operational support of the drug-sniffing dog Kira, made it possible to find and seize a large quantity of drugs and material useful for packaging. Hashish with a total weight of approximately 191.45 grams, and cocaine with a total weight of approximately 8.1 grams, a precision scale and a credit card with evident traces of narcotic substance were seized, in addition to the sum of money of 200 euros from drug dealing, divided into small and medium denomination banknotes.
At the disposal of the magistrate on duty at the Crotone Prosecutor’s Office, the arrested person was then taken to prison at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. During the control activities of the territory, the Carabinieri of the Tenenza of Isola di Capo Rizzuto also reported a 22-year-old Moroccan resident in the area to the Crotone Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of dangerous escape following failure to comply with the military order. In fact, the young man had refused to stop marching at the halt signal given by the Carabinieri patrol and to escape control he had fled at high speed along the main streets of the town centre, being quickly tracked down and identified. In addition to the referral to the Judicial Authority for conduct of criminal importance linked to the escape methods, the young man was charged with several serious violations of the Highway Code – including the lack of insurance coverage, driving with an expired licence, exceeding the speed limits and prohibited overtaking maneuvers – for a total amount of approximately 1,210 euros in administrative fines.
