The activity to combat the so-called “bad movement” by the local police of Reggio Calabria continues. During the night between Saturday and Sunday, an extraordinary territorial control service was carried out which involved 20 operators, supported by two mobile stations, five cars, four breathalyzer precursors, a breathalyser and a drug test device. During the checks, 127 vehicles were checked and over 80 drivers were subjected to breath tests: seven, mostly aged between 19 and 30, were found to be in a state of alcoholic intoxication, with consequent criminal and administrative sanctions and a total of eight licenses withdrawn.
The checks also involved the city’s nightlife areas, where 68 administrative sanctions were imposed, including one for illegal abandonment of waste, three for violations of the urban police regulation with the same number of urban Daspos and over 30 for infringements of the Highway Code. A business owner who had completely occupied a public square for an unauthorized show was also reported. During the operations, a 27-year-old motorist who had attempted to evade a checkpoint near the Reggio Centrale train station was also stopped and also tested positive for alcohol. A total of three people were reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. During the night, officers also detected three road accidents, one of which involved four cars.
