New blow to drug dealing in Cirò Marina, where the financiers of the Crotone provincial command arrested a 35-year-old man, resident in the city, in the act, as part of the territorial control services intensified in view of the holidays.
The operation took place during a normal road check. The Fiamme Gialle soldiers stopped a car with two people on board who, due to their evident state of agitation, immediately aroused the suspicion of the financiers. During the check, both spontaneously handed over about 8 grams of hashish, in an attempt to reduce the seriousness of the situation.
However, immediate investigative investigations made it possible to ascertain that a transfer of narcotic substance by the driver of the vehicle had taken place shortly before. For this reason, the house search of the 35-year-old was started. Inside the house, a further 120 grams of hashish and marijuana were found and seized, as well as a precision electronic scale still stained with the substance, an element considered indicative of an ongoing drug dealing activity.
In light of the flagrant crime of detention for the purpose of dealing, provided for by article 73 of Presidential Decree 309/1990, and under the coordination of the Crotone Public Prosecutor’s Office, led by the prosecutor Domenico Guarascio, the man was arrested. The arrest was subsequently validated in the immediate trial, following the plea bargaining of the sentence requested by the defence. The other person arrested was instead reported to the Prefecture as a drug user, pursuant to article 75 of Presidential Decree 309/1990.
The operation confirms the constant commitment of the Guardia di Finanza in combating illicit trafficking and protecting legality, through widespread control of the territory.
