The municipal council of Locri, which was held on Thursday under the leadership of the mayor Giuseppe Fontanaapproved the technical and economic feasibility project of the intervention called “The City of the Sea” included in the integrated urban plan of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria “Aspromonte in the city, a green, sustainable, inclusive and smart metropolitan city”, financed in the scope of the “Pnrr (M5C2I2.2) – Next generation Eu” for a total amount of 9 million and 700 thousand euros.
The technical and economic feasibility project presented on March 1, 2024 consists of numerous textual documents, including a general report, a technical report, a structural one, a geological report, and a general technique in the hydrological-hydraulic field, l general framework with environmental and archaeological aspects, the impact on the reference territories, which concern the municipalities of Locri, Siderno, Antonimina and Gerace.
At the center of the important and strategic project is the bridge called “Onda Ionica”, designed by the Locrian architect Paolo Albano, which represents the symbol of the future and of the conurbation between Locri and Siderno for what is the project of the new waterfront which embraces the two centers in what is the “La Città del Mare” project which is, among other things, one of the objectives strategies of the Metropolitan City.
The ambitious and futuristic project contains a series of urban, social, cultural, tourist regeneration interventions and exponential growth of the territory.
