The First Clementine Festival in the City of Milan ended with enthusiasm and great participation Corigliano-Rossanoan event that celebrated the symbol of the agricultural excellence and identity of the area: the clementine.
The event saw the presence of all the POs (Producer Organisations), trade associations and citizens who, together, enhanced the citrus fruit supply chain. The two exceptional guests hosted, Prof. Roberto della Casa and Yvan Sagnet, provided important discussion points for the thematic tables of the next edition.
The culmination of the party was enriched by the presence of the well-known journalist Gioacchino Bonsignore, correspondent of the Tg5 Gusto column, who produced a report for Mediaset during the day, thus offering the opportunity to tell the tradition and quality of our clementines to the general public national.
The Mayor of the City of Corigliano-Rossano, on the sidelines of the event, declared:
“With this first edition, we have started a path to valorise the territory, based on our agri-food excellence, which will strengthen the paths already started in recent years: a successful bet. An event that we intend to grow over the years and become a reference for our sector driving production, i.e. agriculture, and a tool for making our gastronomic and agri-food resources known to the outside world”.
The Councilor for the Sustainable and Equitable City with responsibility for Agriculture, Francesco Madeo, added: “The Clementine Festival must not just be a celebratory moment, but must transform itself into a platform for discussion and comparison on issues related to our territory, to its agriculture and its sustainable development. Investing in this event means creating a strategic place to attract the attention of national and European decision-makers, stimulating policies in favor of our excellence and our agricultural communities point of reference for the debate on the challenges and opportunities of the national citrus sector, given that Sibaritide produces 70% of national Clementines”.
The Councilor for Tourism, Costantino Argentino, also underlined the importance of the initiative: “The Clementine Festival represents an extraordinary opportunity to promote our territory as an excellent tourist destination. The events linked to local productions not only enhance our products, but offer visitors an authentic experience, linked to the culture and traditions of our territory. The objective is to make the clementine an ambassador not only of our agriculture, but also of our landscape and cultural heritage, creating a tourist circuit capable of attracting flows from all over Italy and beyond”.
The municipal administration thanks the Ops (Producer Organizations) who strongly supported the entire organization, the participants, the exhibitors, the organizers and all the citizens for contributing to the success of the First Clementine Festival. The event not only marks a celebration, but also a concrete commitment to the promotion and valorisation of the excellence of the territory.
