Lorenzo Musetti won the title of the “Grand Prix Auvergne-Rhone-Alpe”, ATP 250 worth 757,320 euros staged on the tough indoor circuit in Lyon. The 24-year-old tennis player from Carrara, 26th in the ranking and seeded number 6, who won yesterday in the all-blue semi-final derby with Flavio Cobolli by saving four match points, defeated the American Taylor Fritz, number 14 ATP and second seeding favourite, in the final act, with a score of 6-3 6-4, achieved in an hour and 24 minutes of play. Musetti, in his tenth singles final on the major circuit and with a best ranking of no.5 in the world (12 January 2026), thus interrupts a series of seven consecutive defeats in the title matches and wins his third ATP trophy after the successes in 2022 in Hamburg and Naples. The Tuscan, Olympic bronze medalist in Paris 2024, semi-finalist at Wimbledon 2024 and Roland Garros 2025, also becomes the fourth Italian with an ATP title to his name in 2026 after Jannik Sinner (6), Flavio Cobolli (1) and Luciano Darderi (1).
