The fuel crisis for Italians at Easter is confirmed, with prices at the pump recording further increases in these days of departures and trips out of town. Codacons reports this, based on regional data from Mimit. «Today the average price of diesel in self-service mode stands at 2.142 euros per liter in Italy, while petrol costs on average 1.785 euros per litre; on the motorway, diesel, thanks to the mini-discount introduced by the concessionaire companies, costs 2.158 euros per litre, 1.816 euros per liter for green fuel”, we read in a note.
Record price increases in the regions
Furthermore, in three regions the average price of diesel even exceeds that charged on the motorway: this is the case of Calabria, which jumps to the top of the ranking of the regions with the highest price of diesel equal to an average of 2.172 euros per litre, followed by Bolzano with 2.163 euros per liter and Lombardy with 2.160 euros per litre. Petrol, on the other hand, exceeds 1.8 euros per liter in Bolzano (1.806), in Basilicata (1.806), Calabria (1.804), Sicily (1.803).
The economic impact on families
«Numbers which, unfortunately, confirm Codacons’ forecasts regarding the supply shortage that hit Italians’ Easter trips, and which cost families around 1.3 billion euros more than last year’s holidays», comments the association.
