“Sport and peace are a winning combination. In a moment like the one we are experiencing – declared Senator Giusy Versace – I believe it is necessary to keep the spotlight on the values of sport, the Olympic spirit and what the Milan-Cortina Olympics and Paralympics represented, setting records from many points of view. For this reason, I strongly wanted the Italian athletes who were protagonists of the last Games in the Senate today. In the presence of the President of the Senate La Russa, the Minister Abodi and the President of the 7th Commission of the Marti Senate, we gave them a bronze coin from the Senate, an important recognition not only to celebrate their successes in the heart of the Italian Parliament, but also to create a moment of reflection on sport as a tool for inclusion and healthy discussion, capable of overcoming many barriers”.

“Even art, like sport, has a universal language. And it is for this reason that I enthusiastically welcomed the Maestro Gianni Moramarco, author of a unique work, a painting on canvas, dedicated to the Paralympic athletes and which was donated to the Senate. The Maestro, accompanied by his publisher and curator Eva Bellini, also wanted to donate numbered and autographed serigraphs of the work, to all the authorities present including the heads of the military sports groups and military bodies. State. For this attention, which is not at all obvious, I thank him from the bottom of my heart, as I thank all the guests and speakers who attended, in presence or via video link – concluded Versace – President La Russa, the Minister for Sport and Youth Abodi, the Minister for Disability Locatelli, Senator Marti, President of the Culture and Sport Commission of the Senate, the Hon. Mollicone, President of the Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Giovanni Malagò, President of the Milano Cortina Foundation 2026, Luciano Buonfiglio, President of CONI, Marco Giunio De Sanctis President of the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) with Massimo Porciani, deputy vice president of the CIP, and Rossana Ciuffetti Director of the Sport Impact area of Sport and Health, all the representatives of the sports groups who did not miss their presence, and all the athletes to whom my greatest and heartfelt good luck goes for their future”.
