The recovery is slowly consolidating and a trend GDP of +1.3% is estimated for February. We read it in the Conjuncture of Confcommercio. «2026 – it is explained – begins in continuity with what emerged in the final part of 2025. The signs of improvement recorded, starting from the beginning of autumn, by the main high-frequency indicators translated, in the last quarter of last year, into a cyclical GDP growth of 0.3%. Considering the two upward revisions made to the accounts for the second and third quarters, the result in terms of growth confirms our forecasts from last month: 2025 ended better than expected by institutional forecasters, also leaving a favorable statistical legacy for 2026. The first indications regarding the beginning of this year appear encouraging, starting with some favorable signs on business and family confidence with positive repercussions also on industrial production and the propensity to consume. Therefore, according to our estimates, after an economic growth in January (+0.3%), a positive change in GDP should also be recorded in February (0.2%) consistent with a trend change finally above 1% (+1.3% on February 2025)”.
