The situation inside the “Guido Compagna” hospital in Corigliano is becoming dramatic, where a combination of structural and organizational critical issues is putting the stability of the health services and the patience of the patients to the test, especially in these days made even more difficult by the scorching temperatures.
The most complex problem is linked to the serious and chronic shortage of personnel which affects all professional figures across the board, from doctors to nurses up to social and healthcare workers (Oss); with the need to respect the summer holiday plan due to workers, duty shifts have now become impossible to guarantee safely, leaving key departments and the emergency room in a state of heavy operational strain.
The Radiology department is no exception, where the severity of staff gaps forces us to ensure the presence of the radiologist on duty exclusively during weekday mornings, leaving the remaining time slots unmanned.
Added to this emergency situation are heavy disruptions on the infrastructural front, with several elevators having been out of use for days now; the situation has taken on paradoxical contours since the only elevator remaining active in which it is possible to transport stretchers coincides with the elevator normally used for the transit of “dirty” material and medical waste, causing obvious inconveniences.
