Vandals break in during the night, devastating the municipal delegation of the Rossano airport, also hitting two other businesses. Devastation and dismay, destruction and violence. Bitterness and disgust accompanied the massacre. Unknown persons entered the municipal delegation during the night, forcing the main entrance, turning everything upside down and even going so far as to defecate on the documents. It is also being verified whether any stamps were stolen and whether any attempt was made to steal documents relating to identity cards. A night of violence and madness all along Viale De Rosis, which also hit a driving school, which was also ransacked, and a bar. Here the vandals also removed the cash box which was found even among the tracks of the train station, in which 150 euros had been left the night before. The entire area was searched by the officers of the police station and the carabinieri of the territorial department of Corigliano Rossano, while it was also verified whether anyone had accessed the emergency room for suspicious injuries. The vandals, according to the initial reconstructions of the investigators who were promptly alerted by the first municipal employees who arrived on site to open the offices, appear to have started their destructive action from the bar, then continued with the driving school, and ended up at the municipal delegation, where they broke down the main entrance door with a chair. The municipal video surveillance cameras recorded the moments of the break-in and the vandalism and the images are being examined by the investigators. Mayor Flavio Stasi firmly condemned the vile act of intimidation: «What happened in the offices of the Rossano Scalo delegation – says Stasi – represents, as well as an act to be stigmatized and condemned, also a very serious episode due to the ways in which it was committed. We are confident in the work of the investigators and I also express solidarity with the economic activities targeted on the same night. I believe – concludes the mayor -, furthermore, it is necessary to do an in-depth analysis of the reasons for these gestures, at the end of which we must ask ourselves what tools, in addition to the necessary repression, the institutions have to fight them”. The councilor in charge of registry and personal services, Marinella Grillo, speaks of “a very serious act that must not go unpunished as soon as those responsible are identified”. Fratelli d’Italia of Corigliano Rossano asks the municipal administration to urgently adopt adequate measures to strengthen the security of public offices and sensitive places, with a more efficient video surveillance system and constant access control: «The protection of institutional offices and citizens is a priority that cannot be overlooked – concludes the note – Corigliano Rossano deserves respect, legality and safety». The president of the city council and regional councilor of the Democratic Party Rosellina Madeo also intervened to condemn the acts of vandalism “which must be absolutely limited and punished, because our city deserves to be remembered for the sense of belonging and not for the incivility of a few”.
