The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has financed the five-year plan 2025-2029, (DM 101/2022) of the Province of Cosenza, for €22,369,563.80 which will involve 43 interventions on various provincial roads.
The President Rosaria Succurro announced the news with evident satisfaction, defining it as a significant funding intended to improve the road system in the territory: “we are talking about a fundamental part of the infrastructural development plan designed by our Offices, based on the directives I gave, to guarantee a more efficient and safe road system for citizens. A design and technical success for which I thank the Director of the Sector Eng. Gianluca Morrone and his staff and which represents a clear signal of our desire to invest in the future of our province” – she declared.
The most important interventions will concern:
1) Right bank Crati SP 234;
2) SP 252 which will connect the Tarsia tunnel with Cantinella;
3) the Provincial Roads of Sibaritide in the Municipality of Cassano, including the SP 171 and the SP 169.
4) The SP 35 called “Crocetta”
5) the SP 241 ex SS 19 with reference to the municipalities of Mormanno and Castrovillari.
Other interventions will affect the municipalities of Altomonte, Lungro, the Arberia area, Aieta, Scala Coeli, San Giovanni in Fiore and others.
Among the most significant interventions, the President cites those on the Provincial Roads of Sibaritide in the Municipality of Cassano, reassuring the Mayor that «the Province of Cosenza does not abandon any territory and that, indeed, Cassano is among the priorities of the Provincial Infrastructure Plan».
President Succurro also highlighted how the funding also represents an opportunity to create jobs: “Every project launched will bring with it jobs and will support the local economy, contributing to a future of growth for all” – she added enthusiastically, specifying that the goal is in any case to ensure that everyone can move freely and safely, whether they are citizens, workers or tourists; and to promote an efficient connection between the different areas of the province. She also expressed gratitude to the institutions and competent authorities, who made this funding possible.
“Teamwork is essential to achieve ambitious goals. I thank all those who collaborated to achieve this result. Together, we can create a better and safer province for all”, concluded the President, implying that this is only the first step towards a program of modernization and sustainable development.
