A series of violence: a homeless man beaten in the street, three gunshots fired at a car parked in the bus station and two robberies carried out in the center of two different bars in the space of 48 hours. The Bruzio capital is experiencing a season of hardship as a result of the actions carried out by isolated criminal groups capable of attacking the most important city areas. The last “hit” was carried out in the night between Saturday and Sunday, in Piazza Bilotti: the bar that dominates the imposing area closed to vehicular traffic suffered the break-in of the heavy entrance door and the theft of all the money contained in the cash register. The loot? 3,000 euros. The operational scheme adopted by the thieves is identical to that of the previous night when another bar had paid the price, this time in the equally central Piazza Europa. The fact that criminal actions are carried out in areas that should be guaranteed by an adequate security system worries citizens and businesses.

There is evidently a “gang” going around that intends to make money by “cleaning up” public businesses quickly and with artisanal means. And if in the case of Piazza Europa the window of the bar was broken with a pickaxe, in Piazza Bilotti a crowbar was instead used with which the heavy entrance door was torn off. Since these are not thefts carried out with particular ingenuity, it can be deduced that the perpetrators are improvised thieves in search of meager loot. However, it is necessary to reflect on the need to increase the presence of the police at night in the areas where the most active and renowned commercial and restaurant establishments are located. The mayor, Franz Caruso, had raised the alarm in recent weeks, showing concern for the recurrence of criminal events in the urban area. A shared concern.
