A sit-in was organized this morning in front of the courthouse in Cosenza to demand “truth and justice” on the death of Ilaria Mirabelli, which occurred in a road accident in Lorica on August 25th. Mario Molinari, the man with whom the thirty-nine-year-old had been in a relationship for some time, is being investigated for road homicide. Two public prosecutors are working on the case: Donatella Donato and Mariangela Farro who appointed the technical consultant who will have to examine the car in which Ilaria Mirabelli and Mario Molinari were travelling on Sunday 25 August.

The thirty-nine-year-old woman lost her life in the accident on which the investigating magistrates are now called to shed light.
The expert chosen by the prosecutors is Fausto Carelli Basile and will be called to answer a series of questions. Here they are: verify who was driving the car; ascertain the compatibility of the injuries found on the victim’s body with the dynamics of the accident; reconstruct in detail what happened; ascertain, again, whether the two occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts and check whether the airbags were activated. Finally, establish the direction of travel of the vehicle that overturned in the Lorica area.
Mario Molinari, investigated for road homicide and defended by lawyer Nicola Rendace, has appointed Angelo Costa as his consultant. Lawyer Salvatore Tropea, the lawyer of Ilaria Mirabelli’s ex-husband, will also take part in the expert operations, scheduled for Friday 20th in the warehouse where the car is kept.. The lawyer Guido Siciliano, the legal representative of the relatives (mother and sister) of the deceased thirty-nine-year-old, has in the meantime requested and obtained that the medical examiner appointed by his clients can also take part in the expert assessment. The victim’s ex-husband, on the other hand, will file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the next few hours in relation to an alleged assault suffered by today’s suspect on July 1st in a commercial establishment in Cosenza.
Prosecutors Farro and Donato will await the results of the consultancy which will be known within 90 days following the material checks ordered. The development of the investigation will inevitably be linked to the conclusions reached by the expert. Molinari has always stated that Ilaria was driving the car, a circumstance that the investigating magistrates intend to ascertain with absolute certainty. On this point there are no witnesses able to confirm or deny the assumption. After the accident, Molinari was reportedly subjected to an alcohol test.
The investigations were entrusted to the Carabinieri of the San Giovanni in Fiore station competent for the territory. The military of the Arma have filed their information report that the prosecutor has made available to the lawyers involved, with different roles, in the case.
