Inspection of the mayor Franz Caruso At the Vecchia Villa, where the recovery and redevelopment works are ending both from the botanical point of view and with reference to the areas and architectural artifacts inside.
The intervention, for an amount equal to 2 million 731,183.50 euros, is part of the CIS historic center, followed by the managing director Francesco Alimena.
“We are giving dignity – says Franz Caruso – returning it to its ancient and invaluable historical/environmental value, to one of the symbolic places and full of history of Cosenza, the oldest and most main green lung of the city, which has always been loved for the Cosenza meeting and destination of tourists and visitors. As a whole it represents a project of extreme value and significant impact that no one had ever implemented. Restoration, carried out according to the regulations in force regarding architectural recovery with the continuous supervision of the Superintendency of Cosenza, those of safety of the places are to be added, so much so that the costons above and affected by the landslides have been consolidated “.
“From the inspection carried out – concluded Franz Caruso – I found with extreme pleasure that the works are being completed and that in the next few days we can inaugurate them with an ad hoc event”.
The recovery and regeneration activity that affected the old town villa concerned: interventions on ancient artifacts subject to protection, on building artifacts, on botanical and green heritage and naturalistic engineering. In this context it should be emphasized that it was necessary, for public safety purposes, to break down some trees considered to high risk, thus classified as a result of accurate agronomic instrumental investigations drawn up, in fact, by agronomous professionals. It also operated on water games and in the restoration of the hydraulic system and networks, on public lighting, for the disposal of rainwater and on the irrigation system. The bar to be entrusted in concession is also redeveloped, which will host a refreshment area and toilets at the service of the park and the nearby theater of traditions A. Rendano. Finally, preserved intact, the character of the wild garden that the villa has always had, without modifying it, on request also of the Superintendency, the original appearance, the amphitheater has also been maintained, originally built as a bathing tank.
