The echo of the tragedy of Capizzi reaches as far as Cosenza, a small town in the province of Messina where last night a 16-year-old was shot dead by a 20-year-old thug. The victim is in fact Giuseppe Di Dio, nephew of Professor Michele Di Dio, a urologist serving at the Cosenza Hospital, and recently at the University of Calabria as a professor of the medical degree course and director of the related complex operational unit of the Annunziata.
Condolence was expressed by the general director of the Cosenza Hospital Vitaliano De Salazar also representing the healthcare and administrative staff. The rector of the University of Arcavacata Gianluigi Greco, the coordinator of the degree course in medicine and surgery at Unical Marcello Maggiolini and the entire academic community also rallied around the professor and his family.
