The municipal council, chaired by Mayor Franz Caruso, approved the technical and economic feasibility project of the project financing for the concession management of the on-street parking areas (blue lines) and of the parking structures in the municipal area.
“With this deliberative act – underlined Mayor Franz Caruso – an important step forward is taken towards an optimized management of all the parking systems present in the city, both those in the structure and those on the surface. Once the project financing is operational, it will be possible to reopen the car parks of Portapiana and Via Aldo Moro (the latter after its indispensable redevelopment). The approval of the finance project will also allow the concession to be extended for the car parks of the Hospital and the Court and the “I Due Fiumi” commercial complex will also have an innovative character and will become smart – explains Mayor Franz Caruso – as it will include the control method, with a single application, of the parking spaces used, through the implementation of 450 sensors. This will allow motorists to know in advance the availability of free spaces. Furthermore, the availability of free spaces can also be learned thanks to the placement of some Oltre variable message panels in the area that in the parking facilities in the structure, the sensors will also be placed in the surface parking lots”.
Furthermore, the concession also includes the removal service of prohibited parked cars and abandoned cars (tow truck), the support service to the local police with traffic auxiliaries for the management of parking and all regulated parking spaces (blue, pink, loading and unloading lines and disabled parking) and, finally, the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance service of the vertical and horizontal signs relating to the managed parking areas. In the project proposal approved by the council, three relevant points of city traffic flows are also included, in order to obtain the data to better plan the urban mobility system. Furthermore, other stalls will be provided for two-wheeled vehicles, including in the structured car parks, where they did not previously exist. The project also includes ordinary and extraordinary maintenance works, which will be carried out in the first year, and which include the surface parking areas, the extraordinary renovation of the signs, the replacement of all the parking meters and the redevelopment and optimization of the car park in Via Aldo Moro. “All of this – underlines Mayor Franz Caruso – is at zero cost for the municipal coffers and the management of the car parks is guaranteed with the payment of a fee to the Municipality. In any case, all the activities will have to conform to the new parking plan being developed. Ultimately, the finance project is aimed – conclude the Mayor Franz Caruso and the Councilor for Mobility and Transport of Palazzo dei Bruzi, Damiano Covelli who followed the process of the council resolution – to ensure optimal management and
