Cosenza, the future to be built starting from the youth sector

Thomas Pompei is the latest young player featured by Cosenza. Despite extremely limited resources for the care of the youth sector, the Sila have managed to bring together some kids capable of guaranteeing playing time and also economic profit for the club coffers.
The goalkeeper from San Benedetto del Tronto ended the season with fifteen starts and six clean sheets. After two years spent on loan at Atletico Ascoli, in Serie D, the 19 year old (he will turn 20 in July), started the season behind Vettorel but during the season he managed to overtake his Venetian colleague. With still one year left on his contract, the player from the Marche region is already being followed by some clubs, who have raised their antennas after Buscè chose him to defend the posts of the Bruzia goal.
His future will become clearer over the summer. It cannot be ruled out that the number one might not become one of those players “sacrificed” to raise cash. Despite this, in many circumstances, the nursery was seen more as a nuisance and a federal obligation rather than a resource on the upper levels of Via Conforti.
The player, whom the former head of the youth sector Sergio Mezzina found in the Sambenedettese area, arrived on the banks of the Crati to forge ahead. He quickly established himself in the Under 17s and then also in the Primavera, so much so that he was loaned out to Serie D when he was still seventeen. A rapid rise, completed by his professional debut during the negative trip to Foggia. Returning to the bench, Pompei obtained the definitive consecration as guardian of the rossoblù stronghold from the match in mid-February against Syracuse.
His trajectory and that of those who before him were able to appear in the first team from the minor levers of the Wolves, should invite the club to reconsider the importance of the youth sector, well beyond the posts with which the (few) successes achieved are flaunted. A first step to lay different foundations could start right here.
