The heavy stop suffered in Catania and with the team stuck at zero in the standings, the road to salvation immediately becomes uphill for Cosenza. Yet another seasonal defeat has thrown the environment into despair and above all the rossoblu coach Federico Coppitelli, forced to deal with an endless series of structural and technical obstacles. The picture drawn by the Roman coach after the Catania debacle leaves no room for interpretation and highlights a borderline situation.
«From the beginning we are honestly facing every obstacle possible. Both individually and collectively we are starting to be something now, with many wingmen. It’s hard for me to say it but I don’t know how many reproaches to give to the players, the photograph of the match reflects reality, we are looking for threads of light, despite the difficulties. We’re late as I’ve said in the past, we can’t compare ourselves to anyone, it’s very complex, no one suffers more than me to show off after these matches. We need to be transparent, we work day and night, but we have little in common with Catania”, he declared bitterly.
And then he added: «If I think of the difficulties that a football team can face, we have faced practically all of them. Adding this to the year zero we talked about, it is clear that we are starting even further back. Young people are trying to express themselves in difficulties, but it is not easy. Building the team while playing becomes very difficult.”
The reality of the camp negatively exceeds the expectations of the day before. «It’s more difficult than I expected. Today we are these. There were very few chances, I feel sorry for the boys, for the fans and for my staff. Unfortunately, I don’t know what else to do.” The coach then focused on the group: «Before I arrived I believed it was a very strong team, but I didn’t expect such a marked reduction. I have many players who have done less than ten training sessions and who have been out of action for months.”
Clear closure without appeal also on the chapter linked to the market for freed players to try to stem the emergency: «Freed players? Now it’s late to make the transfer market, I had a discussion where I communicated the shortcomings, I can’t think about the transfer market given the commitments in a short time. I make omelettes with the eggs I have.” Coppitelli does not hide the structural difficulties and limitations of his Cosenza and asks for time and compactness, but also awareness.
In the meantime, the team has already returned to work, dividing itself between “Marulla” and “Sanvitino”. The objective is to raise our heads in view of the next championship match against Cavese scheduled for Saturday at 3 pm, which will be played once again away from friendly walls, at the “Scida” stadium in Crotone.
