After the victory in the Italian Cup against Foggia (next round in Sorrento which eliminated Trapani on penalties), Crotone immediately returned to work at the sports center to prepare for Sunday’s championship match against Trapani, scheduled for 2.30pm at the “Scida”.
A new afternoon training session is scheduled today. In the meantime, coach Emilio Longo, satisfied with the progress of the round, analyzed the success, focusing on the physical and tactical aspect.
«The objective was to get through but also to try to remain intact in terms of physical appearance, also because we had one less day of rest than the opponent and it showed, but we were looking for this result with more determination. We maintained balance and showed growth, while also trying something different than usual.”
The coach has, in fact, experimented with a new arrangement on the pitch. «We decided to change the skin, moving to a solution with a demi-pointe and a pointe, and with wider exteriors. Against a 3-5-2 it’s not easy to find spaces, but the boys adapted well. In some situations we could have attacked the depth better, but I am happy with the spirit and availability of the team.”
Do you see this test as a step forward also in terms of the future?
«Matches like this help us not to remain anchored to the usual certainties. We understood that we can do more, and this expands our tactical possibilities.”
Finally, a special praise for goalkeeper Sala, who was decisive against the Apulians. «Andrea was very ready, as always. We also have starters on the bench.”
