After more than eight years at the helm of Forza Italia in Crotone, Sergio Torromino announced his irrevocable resignation by provincial secretary, formally communicated to the regional coordinator Francesco Cannizzaro and, for information, to the national secretary Antonio Tajani and the deputy secretary Roberto Occhiuto.

Torromino recalled how, since 2017, he contributed to reporting the party among the first political forces of the territory, reconstructing “credibility, listening and constant presence” after a period of absence from the local panorama. “I have always believed in the liberal and moderate values of Forza Italia and in the thought of Silvio Berlusconi, the last true statesman of the Republic” he underlined.

The choice, he explained, arises from the progressive exhaustion of the “propulsive thrust” and from “internal choices that move in the opposite direction to meritocracy and respect”. He denounced the risk of reducing Crotone to “electoral basin to be exploited and then forgetting” and reiterated that politics must not bend to “opportunism or personalisms”.

While leaving the assignment, Torromino clarified that this is not a farewell to politics: “I will continue to serve my community, faithful to my values: honesty, concreteness and love for the earth”. He has renewed support for the president of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, and his junta, recognizing progress on tourism, agriculture and environment. “My commitment does not end here – he concluded – begins a new path, with the same determination and an even greater freedom”.
