The Crotone Democratic Party launches a campaign to the mayor Vincenzo Voce, more than a year away from the municipal elections. And it does so by rallying the other centre-left parties as well as the world of associations and the professions.
This was the meaning of the meeting that was held last night in a venue in the city which led those who decided to embrace the political project of the Dems to sign the “progressive manifesto”. The debate, which officially sanctioned the start of the Democratic Party’s electoral race well in advance, will culminate with the identification of the candidate for mayor “who will arrive after the choice of the program”. An important step forward for the Democrats considering that in 2020 they don’t even have a list.
“We must underline our left-wing identity,” he began Annagiulia Caiazza, city secretary of the Democratic Partyspeaking to an audience made up of old and new militants; of professionals, entrepreneurs and trade unionists. “If we remain consistent with ourselves – added the Dem leader – we will win”. The reference to the Voce Council is clear which – according to Caiazza – “pursues a consensus of quantity and not of quality”, when instead the Democrats must aim “only for a consensus of quality”.
Leo Barberio, provincial secretary of the Democratic Party, is also enthusiastic about the path started: «From next week we will begin to prepare the program to create an alternative to the current administration which will be called upon to lead Crotone for the next five and ten years». The Democratic Party deputy, Nico Stumpo, is also clear: «We have the task of putting together ideas to give a project to the city which must return to the center of the regional debate». The parliamentarian also urged members to go “to the neighborhoods” and to involve “the trade associations”.
