Crotone, the “special mention” awarded to Andrea Antonio Pesavento “for the very high cultural contribution offered to the city community”

“A man of culture, who dedicated his life to study, with passion and with an extraordinary dissemination ability capable of building “cultural bridges” with the new generations”. The mayor of Crotone said it Vincenzo Voce in his speech describing the work of Andrea Antonio Pesavento as part of the ceremony for the awarding of the “Special Mention” foreseen by the Municipal Regulation for the granting of civic merits. Ceremony which was held this morning in the “Falcone e Borsellino” Council Room of the Municipality of Crotone.

Andrea Antonio Pesavento, originally from Bassano del Grappa, he has lived and worked in Crotone since 1969, where he built and directed the library of the Cultural Services Centrea library later acquired by the Municipality of Crotone. He is the appreciated author of numerous publications relating to the history of Crotone and its province.

The honor was awarded to him “for the very high cultural contribution offered to the city community through studies and research within the Crotone area regarding various historical and social aspects. An example for the young generations, he is a protagonist of the cultural life of the city of Crotone”.

“The “Special Mention” is a deserved recognition for the research work, of the hard but precious work of Dr. Pesavento. Exploring local history helps us understand ourselves, what we are today. The work of Dr. Pesavento is a living language that makes us feel like heirs of our past” said the Councilor for Culture Nicola Corigliano who proposed the resolution to recognize the honor to the City Council.

A pleasant surprise for the doctor. Pesavento came from her city of origin; the mayor of Bassano del Grappa Nicola Ignazio Finco sent, on the occasion of the ceremony, a message “Dr. Pesavento, linked to our community due to his origins, has dedicated his life to study and dissemination, contributing with passion to enhancing the history of Crotone. On behalf of the city of Bassano del Grappa I would like to express our recognition and gratitude for the example it represents especially for young people”

In thanking the mayor and the municipal administration for the recognition, Dr. Pesavento dedicated the honor to his wife Rosalba and to those who collaborated with him in his long research and study work.

“Through research I tried to trace a path for the new generations, to give them the opportunity to gain insights into the history of the city” said Dr. Pesavento also remembering his arrival in the city in 1969, the first documents he had the opportunity to find and deepen, the years dedicated to study, comparison, dialogue, dissemination.

In delivering the parchment with the reasons for the honor, the mayor renewed, on behalf of the entire city community, his thanks to Dr. Pesavento for what has been done for the city’s cultural movement with high professionalism, with high social commitment, with altruism and a sense of belonging.
