Crotone won their first victory by beating Salernitana 2-1 at the end of a match that changed after just 28 minutes. The rossoblù built their success with a high-quality start and defended it by playing for over an hour with ten men. Musso opens in the 10th minute, heading Armini’s cross, then Zunno doubles the lead in the 22nd minute with an assist from Veltri. Salernitana shortened two minutes later with Villa, favored by Merelli’s rejection of Achik’s attempt. In the 28th minute the rossoblù goalkeeper lands D’Ursi outside the area and is sent off. Greco sacrifices Tordini and inserts Martino. However, numerical superiority is not enough for the Granata. Crotone continues to restart, to build constantly especially with an irrepressible Zunno, and in the second half they come close to making it 3-1 several times: Galeotti stops the attacker’s cross-shot, Villa saves on another rossoblù initiative and Veltri wastes from a favorable position. Salernitana attacks without finding precision. In the final, FVS ruled out a penalty due to a possible handball by Barcella, which did not exist. Crotone resists and closes a performance of character, but also of quality.
