The new air routes to and from Calabria have certainly brought the airports of this region out of a long hibernation. It is a fact that is there for all to see. It would be enough to mention the activism of Ryanair which has decided to establish one of its reference hubs at the “Tito Minniti” in Reggio Calabria, but also the flights recently activated to Lamezia Terme. In short, all this is good, but at what price? asking is Antonio Lo Schiavocenter-left regional councilor and current group leader of the Misto. Two days ago the representative elected in 2021 with the De Magistris President list asked the regional councilor for more information in the Budget commission Marcello Minenna not receiving, however, at least according to the person concerned, exhaustive answers.
The clarification requested from Councilor Minenna during the last session of the Budget Commission concerned the non-application of the municipal surcharge on boarding fees (6.50 euros for each passenger) in the territory of the Calabria Region. In particular, Lo Schiavo asked «if there was, at the basis of the measure, a specific cost/benefit analysis to adequately evaluate whether the significant cost charged to Calabrian citizens will bring advantages in terms of significant entry into the regional tourism sector».
