It is a very important issue on which we are working hard, the Italian government and the Afghan embassy to give support and allow families to be reunited wherever they are. I hope that our efforts will achieve results I think the Italian government will.” As Khaled Ahmad ZekriyaAmbassador of the Islamic Republic and Afghanistan in Rome who in Crotone attended the football match organized at the opening of the three-day initiative on the anniversary of the Cutro shipwreck.

«Just as she promised – added the ambassador – President Meloni is working to allow these families to be reunited. The most important thing is to respond to the requests of the victims’ families and facilitate all family reunifications as soon as possible. We thank the community of Crotone who expressed great closeness to the Afghan people, last year as well as today.” Zekriya then said that “the situation in Afghanistan has worsened due to the misogynistic regime of the Taliban, who force women and minorities to flee.”
