Strong outcry from the mayors of the Catanzaro area, united against the cutting of medical guards. Over thirty first citizens, in the presence of the president of the Province Amedeo Mormilemet in the Council Room of the Province of Catanzaro to decide together the line to follow against the reduction in the number of continuity of care stations, foreseen in the new regional supplementary agreement, signed by the Calabria Region and the trade unions and transmitted to the competent ministries for assessment.
The news of the reorganization of the local health system which, in fact, would result in the suppression of many medical guards, has alarmed the mayors of the Catanzaro area, ready to fight against a measure perceived as unfair and above all harmful to the right to health of the citizens of the Municipalities they represent.
There is unanimous concern linked to the risk that entire areas will remain without adequate healthcare. A measure that would further weaken a local healthcare system that is already inadequate and penalized over time by continuous weakening and impoverishment to the detriment of the most fragile categories.
From the meeting held in the UN Palace, the mayors’ firm intention to undertake any useful initiative to avoid the feared cuts emerged. The first move is the request for a meeting with the president of the Region, as well as Calabrian health commissioner Roberto Occhiuto.
