Dan Greaney, the four-time Emmy-winning screenwriter who wrote the Simpsons episode “Bart to the Future” in which he predicted Donald Trump’s presidency 16 years in advance, has announced his candidacy in the 2028 presidential elections.
The video on Instagram disguised as a magician
In a video published on Instagram, Greaney appears dressed as a magician and, after calling himself “a self-proclaimed prophet”, lists what in his opinion are the main problems of American politics: “Trump, Vance, the billionaires, political professionals and the cowards of both parties have turned their backs on the United States. For them there is money, power and security. Not for you.”

The twist: “I’m a lawyer!”
The screenwriter then continues with satirical tones by pretending not to have the qualifications to run until the final twist: «In America the government should work for everyone. Democracy for all, responsibility for all, prosperity for all. We need to restore all of this. I’d like to help, but I’m not a lawyer. I’m a self-proclaimed prophet… who went to law school, graduated, passed the bar exam… Wait a minute! I’m a lawyer!”
The candidacy of a “progressive Republican”
At that point Greaney abandons his magician disguise and shows up in a suit and tie as a candidate for the White House running as a “progressive Republican” in the tradition of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt: “Hell, I can be a politician. I’m running for president. My platform is simple: An America for all. Let’s get to work.”
