Luciano Darderi's run in Rome stops. The 22-year-old Italian-Argentine exited the scene in the third round of the men's singles of the Internazionali d'Italia, the ATP Masters 1000 tournament, with over nine million euros in prize money, taking place on the red clay of the Foro Italico. Darderi, number 54 in the world ranking, succumbed to the German Alexander Zverev, number 5 in the international ranking and third seeding favourite, with a score of 7-6 (3) 6-2. Another result. Third round: Zhizhen Zhang (Chn) b. Ben Shelton (USA, 12) 6-2 6-4.

Italy has one last representative left in the singles: Stefano Napolitano, who will face the Chilean Jarry tomorrow.
