Vincenzo Mollica, journalist, writer, author and television and radio host, will receive the Special David during the 69th edition of the David di Donatello Awards. The award will be awarded on Friday 3 May as part of the live awards ceremony, in prime time on Rai 1 from the Cinecittà studios, hosted by Carlo Conti and Alessia Marcuzzi. Fabrizio Biggio will be on the red carpet.

“For over forty years, Vincenzo Mollica has been describing the world of entertainment in Italy with passion and sobriety, enthusiasm and competence – declares Piera Detassis, President and Artistic Director of the Accademia del Cinema Italiano -. His unique style, empathy and his art of the interview have for decades been an example for those who have undertaken a career as a journalist. For me a true inspiration, for everyone a master who knows how to combine pop taste, auteur films, great actors and directors. above all, he loves to communicate, because Vincenzo Mollica has not only spoken to professionals but to the enormous public, which has known and appreciated him through television and radio. Cinema, music, TV, comics, literature, the digital universe: Vincenzo is at his side of all of us, every day, to tell us with his engaging curiosity the fascinating universe of culture in all its languages”.

«This special David comes as a lovely gift. It is a great honor and I thank the Cinema Academy and the president Piera Detassis. It is a moment of joy, the same feeling with which in my forty-year career I have described cinema, artists and workers.” This is how Vincenzo Mollica comments, on the phone with ANSA, about the recognition that he will receive on May 3 during the David di Donatello awards ceremony. «I never thought I would receive such an important award, it comes as a celebration. And I'm even more pleased because it comes from cinema, my great passion as always, in addition to music and comics. Great films have always made my heart beat.” The journalist and writer, who wants to keep the dedication he will make upon receiving the Prize a secret, then says he is happy that the ceremony is being held in Cinecittà, “a place that reminds me of a special person: Federico Fellini”.
