“They killed him.” Annamaria Zaffino swallows tears and pain in front of the cameras of Tg1 Rai. It is the pain of a mother who saw her son die after a beating. The State immediately responded to the woman’s request for truth and justice by identifying and arresting the two alleged thugs accused of having caused the death of Antonio Perrotta, the 33-year-old from Fuscaldo who died in intensive care in the Annunziata Hospital in Cosenza on Monday morning.
The investigative circle closed yesterday morning, in Belvedere Marittimo. Carabinieri and police investigators jointly executed the arrest warrant written by the head of the Paola public prosecutor, Domenico Fiordalisi, against two brothers who live in Luxembourg, where they deal with catering, but with roots right in Belvedere. They are Domenico and Umberto Orsino, aged 22 and 24 respectively. Domenico, among other things, is also a member of the Luxembourg national rugby team.
The brothers, who are defended by the lawyer Alessandro Gaeta of the Paola bar, made a silent scene yesterday morning in front of the prosecutor Fiordalisi. They exercised the right not to respond.
According to what we learned, Antonio Perrotta was working as a bouncer, but it is not clear whether he was simply lending a hand to his colleagues, because as reported, the management of the place is not among the staff of “Il Castello”. According to the reconstruction of the investigators – corroborated by the cameras – there had been an argument inside the room involving two subjects and Perrotta. For this reason the security staff had taken steps to remove the two people beyond the barriers. Similarly, around 4, Perrotta would also have left. Perrotta was hit in the face and fell to the ground after hitting his head violently. Rescued by security, he was then taken to the hospital in Cetraro by an acquaintance. The search carried out in the Orsinos’ home yesterday morning also revealed a seized shirt – although washed – which had a blood stain. And even clothes worn on the evening of the attack were found in the apartment.
Antonio Perrotta’s body is available to the judicial authorities. The autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow morning at 11. And the funeral could then be held on the same day.
