One hundred fishing boats from Sicily and Calabria will participate in the large mobilization on 22 October in the Strait of Messina against expensive diesel fuel. This is what emerged from an institutional meeting held yesterday in the Prefecture of Messina, where a delegation from the Sicilian Shipowners Federation, led by Fabio Micalizzi, was received by the prefect Cosima Di Stani, in the presence of the Police Commissioner and the director of Digos. A confrontation that could represent a decisive step to avoid the protest and finally open a dialogue between the navies and the national government. The prefect, according to what was reported by the delegation, expressed her willingness to be the spokesperson for the category’s requests to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida.
The Federation’s request is clear: to urgently convene the States General of Fisheries in Rome, through an extraordinary national table open to all organizations in the sector, including those that are autonomous and not represented in institutional bodies.
