The Deputy Metropolitan Mayor Carmelo Versace met the mayor of Oppido Mamertina at Palazzo Alvaro Joseph Morizzi and the City Councilor Francis Landon. Important topics addressed during this meeting: the state of construction of the new Oppido Mamertina Scientific High School, a project financed with 2.2 million euros of PNR funds, very important for the Oppido area as a whole, which will be able to benefit from a cutting-edge structure equipped with all the necessary supports and equipment to be able to carry out any educational activity.
“This school – the metropolitan deputy mayor stated – has been waiting for many, too many, years to be built and completed. With tenacity and obstinacy, the metropolitan administration, on the precise direction of mayor Falcomatà, has never given up, instead giving a decisive boost so that the teaching staff and the students can finally cross the threshold in 2025/2026”.
During the meeting, new prospects for the center of the plain were also discussed: the project of a public gym that could serve the entire community of Oppido and the surrounding areas both as a sports center and as a center for aggregation, training and growth for athletes.
The Metropolitan City’s investment, the result of a €285,000 loan from Credito Sportivo, will serve to create a multipurpose indoor facility where tennis, five-a-side football and volleyball matches and training can be held. A degraded and disused area will therefore be recovered, making it a true point of reference.
Another central theme addressed is that of Roads, focusing on the road network under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan City and on the cleaning of the roads. The current situation of the Oppido Mamertina Hospital was also discussed, providing a snapshot of the moment.
The meeting concluded with an invitation to discuss any initiatives that we intend to implement for next Christmas, trying once again to develop a program that lives up to expectations.
