In recent days, the Carabinieri of the Lieutenant of Rosarno have denounced two fans of Virtus Rosarno in a state of freedom, held responsible for aggravated damage.
The measure stems from an investigative activity started following the episodes that occurred on April 4, 2025, on the occasion of the football meeting between the ASD Virtus Rosarno and the US Gioiosa Jonica 1960, held at the municipal stadium of Rosarno. The race, crucial for the promotion in the championship of excellence, ended with a draw, a result not appreciated by the local fans, present in about 450 units.
At the end of the match, some supporters of the home team tried several times to get in touch with the guest fans and with the players of the opposing training, also invading the sector reserved for them. Only the timely intervention of the military of the weapon, employed in the public order service, has avoided worse consequences. Thanks to the preparation of a security cordon, it was in fact possible to allow the players of the guest team to safely reach the social bus, thus preventing any violent action against them.
However, at a later time, the same vehicle was the subject of vandalism that caused the damage to the rear -view mirror and windshield.
Thanks to the profound knowledge of the territory by the operating military, they have made it possible to identify two of the alleged managers, both already known to the police for criminal and police records. A proposal for the issue of Daspo’s provision was also made against them.
