Emergency flight from Reggio Calabria to Genoa: 5-year-old girl in danger of life transferred from Gom to Gaslini

A 5-year-old girl was urgently transported from Reggio Calabria to Genoa with an Air Force aircraft. The little girl, hospitalized at the Grande Ospedale Metropolitano ‘Bianchi – Melacrino – Morellì in Reggio Calabria and needing to be transferred as a matter of urgency to the Gaslini pediatric hospital in Genoa, traveled together with a medical team.

The flight, as required by the procedures for this type of activity, was authorized by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which manages and coordinates the activities of the fleet of state aircraft. The activation took place at the request of the prefecture of Reggio Calabria to the Summit Situation Room of the Milan Air Force Command, which immediately involved the 31st Wing of Ciampino, one of the departments that carries out the operational readiness service for this type of missions. Once all the necessary procedures had been carried out by the military crew, the G650 took off from Ciampino airport for Reggio Calabria airport in the early hours of the afternoon, where the little girl was immediately on board together with the medical team. After landing at the Genoa-Sestri airport, which took place just before 4 pm, an ambulance provided the subsequent transport to the hospital of destination for hospitalization.
