Engines roaring in the 12 municipalities called to the polls for the administrative elections of 24 and 25 May. Many candidatures are still subject to strict secrecy (between political strategies, indecision and a bit of superstition) but many others are certain. This is the case of Serra San Bruno, where there will be a three-way challenge. The outgoing mayor Alfredo Barillari will attempt an encore, with his solid “LiberaMente” movement. Competing will be two faces who are not new to local politics: Dr Vincenzo Damiani (who has on his side a large committee formed, among others, by the former PD regional councilor Luigi Tassone and the current municipal opposition group leader Antonio Procopio); and Valeria Giancotti, whose candidacy was inaugurated by UDC exponent and former mayor Bruno Rosi and opposition councilor Vito Regio.
